What Is ICF Construction?
Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) is a modern building system that combines reinforced concrete with high-performance insulation to create energy-efficient, airtight, and structurally strong homes.

ICF is a highly capable construction system, but the blocks themselves do not guarantee a high-performance building.
Accuracy during installation matters.
Wall alignment, reinforcement placement, bracing, openings, service penetrations and concrete placement all need to be carefully controlled before and during each pour.
Once concrete is inside the wall, correcting mistakes becomes considerably more difficult.
For this reason, Alvora approaches ICF as structural construction rather than simply block installation.

Our ICF Construction Process
01 — Drawings & Engineering Review
We review architectural and structural information to understand wall geometry, reinforcement, openings, levels and critical construction details before installation begins.
02 — Setting Out
The ICF wall positions, corners, openings and structural interfaces are accurately transferred to the prepared foundation or slab.
03 — ICF Installation
CastleForms ICF units are assembled progressively to form the walls, including corners, junctions and window and door openings.
04 — Reinforcement
Horizontal and vertical reinforcement is installed in accordance with the structural engineer's drawings and specifications.
05 — Bracing & Alignment
The ICF walls are temporarily braced and carefully adjusted to establish line, level and plumb before concrete placement.
06 — Pre-Pour Inspection
Reinforcement, openings, penetrations, connections and wall alignment are checked before the pour proceeds.
07 — Concrete Placement
Concrete is placed in a controlled sequence to fill the structural core while wall alignment and stability are continuously monitored.
08 — Final Checks
Following the pour, walls are rechecked and any required adjustments completed before the concrete develops significant strength.

ICF construction prices can be difficult to compare because quotations often cover very different scopes of work.
Some rates cover installation labour only, while others include the ICF system, reinforcement, concrete, pumping and placement. When comparing ICF prices, it is important to establish exactly what is included.
For straightforward residential construction, Alvora provides transparent starting rates for specialist ICF installation and complete structural wall construction.

How We Measure ICF Wall Area
Standard ICF wall areas are measured gross through window and door openings.
For example:
A wall measuring:
20m long × 2.7m high = 54m²
would normally be measured as 54m² of ICF construction, even where the elevation contains standard window and door openings.
Openings reduce the volume of ICF material and concrete required, but they do not eliminate the installation work. Openings require additional cutting, forming, reinforcement detailing, alignment and control during concrete placement.
This method allows our starting €/m² rates to remain simple and transparent.
